This week’s Triangle sanitation scores (March 14)

The News & Observer publishes a weekly roundup of restaurant sanitation scores to keep you up-to-date on the health grades at Triangle dining spots.

Sanitation scores and their corresponding letter grades are used in North Carolina to assess restaurants’ adherence to rules and standards intended to mitigate and prevent the spread of food-borne illnesses.

You’ve likely seen sanitation grade cards at restaurants you’ve visited, and The N&O previously explained what those scores mean and how they’re calculated.

Silicon Valley Bank gave company-wide bonuses hours before it collapsed: report

Silicon Valley Bank employees received their annual bonuses on Friday just hours before the government took control of the company, according to reports.

SVB traditionally processes annual bonuses on the second Friday of March, unnamed sources associated with the bank told CNBC. The bonuses were reportedly for work completed in 2022.

US Life Span Falling Behind Our Peer Countries

The average life expectancy for Americans is shortened by over seven months [in 2021]according to new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

That decrease follows an already big decline of 1.8 years in 2020. As a result, the expected life span of someone born in the US is now 76.4 years โ€” the shortest it has been in nearly two decades.

Middlesex-London Health Unit confirms measles case in London, Ont. -London

Local health officials say a measles case has been confirmed in the community.

The Middlesex-London Health Unit and Southwestern Public Health say the person lives in London and works at Nova Steel in Woodstock.

The person reportedly got sick while traveling outside of Canada. After they returned, health officials said they had limited contact with others during the time they were infectious.
