Workers value paid time off more than health insurance, the survey suggests

  • That was one finding of a survey conducted by the Pew Research Center.

Accused seller of ‘sham’ health insurance paid $100 million for consumer refunds before seeking bankruptcy protection

A Tampa, Florida-based health insurance distributor accused by the Federal Trade Commission of misleading consumers into buying “sham” health insurance plans has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Benefytt Technologies, which has offices in Fort Lauderdale and Sunrise, last year settled a Federal Trade Commission complaint that it participated in “deceptive, unfair and abusive acts” in connection with the sale and marketing of its memberships and related health products, including short- term medical plans, limited benefit plans and medical discount plans.

Since the end of the Public Health Emergency and the unrolling of Medicaid, health insurance workers are already seeing an uptick in inquiries.

West Virginia Navigator provides free assistance to people in finding and selecting health care options through the Marketplace, Medicaid and CHIP.

Galician pet tech firm Barkibu has raised $5 million in a new funding round. Offering both pet insurance and a preventive services app, naturally complete with an AI-powered component, Barkibu intends to use the new funds to further improve and expand its services.
