Do you trust the government with your private health-care information? Do you trust the government to mandate your health care?

So, Health Minister Adrian Dix, I have been waiting now for almost a year for that cup of coffee. (See “How to encourage more family doctors,” Feb. 7, 2022.)
We have never once met to discuss the health-care crisis in this province, or solutions to the family doctor shortage, despite overwhelming public pressure as evidenced by the Herculean advocacy efforts of BC Healthcare Matters.

A New York Supreme Court judge struck down a mandate Friday that required all health care workers in the state to be vaccinated against the coronavirus, said Gov. Kathy Hochul and the New York State Department of Health had exceeded their authority.
In his ruling, Judge Gerard Neri said the mandate is “null, void, and of no effect” because the state can’t require health care workers to get vaccinations that aren’t required by public health law, which includes mumps, measles and hepatitis.
The state health department said Saturday it is “exploring its options” after the ruling.

A Winnipeg family frustrated over the state of health care in Manitoba is moving to BC in search of better care.
The family’s journey in the health care system started when 56-year-old Devina Gracia Perez needed brain surgery last May. A high risk for the surgery, she had a stroke partially paralyzing her left side and right eye.
A few days later, she was sent from the Health Sciences Center (HSC) to Concordia Hospital for rehab.

There is no doubt physical education and the physical development of children during their developmental years were greatly affected by the pandemic. Physical education is a field in which physical distancing, wearing masks, and avoiding close contact is extremely difficult. The importance of physical education for a child’s social, emotional, and physical well-being has been shown for decades (Bailey, 2006). As the country slowly comes out of the pandemic restrictions, interest in how physical education classes were affected during a pandemic should be studied.
