While it’s considered a fast-food option, Fort Erie’s newest restaurant is anything but a typical fast-food franchise.
BarBurrito recently opened its doors at 450 Garrison Rd. and celebrated its official grand opening on Feb. 28.
“We’ve been observing the community of Fort Erie for a while now, and with all the growth that’s happening here, we feel it was the right time to open a restaurant that offers healthier options,” said Renison Javad, who co-owns the business with his wife, Reena Javad, and with Chirag Patel set up as the regional director of operations.
The menu includes Mexican-style dishes that customers can customize to their taste buds with a wide variety of toppings, fresh vegetables (fresh salsa, lettuce, tomatoes, cilantro, red onions, corn, beans), sauces and guacamole, all made in-house .
With a nearby gym that also recently opened to the public, Javad said BarBurrito is in a perfect location because many gym goers have stopped in after their workouts for a bite to eat.
“We’ve had a very good response already with many people coming and trying our food.”
While he won’t be doing the cooking himself, Javad is confident in the seven-member crew signed on to serve dishes, including Jinal Patel and her husband, Brijesh Patel.
Javad said Jinal had plenty of experience in the restaurant business, having worked for another fast-food chain and a bakery.
“Jinal is the one that brought us the idea (to open a restaurant). She is very fond of working in the kitchen and making sure everyone gets nice, healthy food,” he said.
“I also know that when she is in the kitchen, I don’t have to worry.”
Catering options are also available. The restaurant is open seven days a week from 11 am to 9 pm
